Forms
For cedar strip construction forms are placed at 12" o.c. along a base (strong back) to maintain the boats shape during construction
Strips
Cedar strips are placed on the forms, most often they are stapled to the forms to secure them while the glue is drying, I will also clamp them to avoid the staple holes
Fiberglass
Surf Wing Kayak
6 pound fiberglass fabric and epoxy are commonly used on wood boats to add strength and waterproof them
Images from the construction progress of my Surf Wing Kayak

View above is of the bottom of the boats hull during the final application of a marine varnish over the epoxy to protect the boats finish from the suns UV rays
Marine Plywood
This is an image of my start putting the kit pieces together. The two bulkheads are used as a guide and support when adding each hull piece
Stitch Wires
In this image you can see both teh hull and deck combined as well as the many wire "stitching' holding the various plywood pieces together

Deck Flare
This is a "Stitch & Glue" kayak I built using "Pygmy Boat's" Coho design. I used this as the platform to add my patented deck flare design.
In this image I have added the primary flare support piece to the hull and cut a flare to screw to the support. I later covered the screws with a wood veneer and reinforced the flare with fiberglass
